Terms of Service
Last updated: March 11, 2026
Welcome to Pantri! These Terms of Service explain the rules for using our free app. We want to keep things simple and straightforward, so we've written these in plain English rather than legal jargon.
By creating an account and using Pantri, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Pantri.
1. About Pantri
Pantri is a free, web-based progressive app designed to help Australian households track their pantry, plan meals, and manage shopping lists. The app is provided "as is" to help you reduce food waste, save money, and simplify meal planning.
Pantri is developed and operated by Wes Fischer. We're a small team focused on solving real kitchen problems for Australian families.
2. Accepting These Terms
When you create a Pantri account or use the app, you're agreeing to:
- These Terms of Service
- Our Privacy Policy
- Any future updates to these terms (we'll give you notice)
If you don't agree to these terms, you can't use Pantri. It's that simple.
If you're using Pantri on behalf of a household or organization, you agree to these terms for everyone in that group.
3. Your Account
Creating an Account
To use Pantri, you need to create an account with a valid email address. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activities that occur under your account.
Age and Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Pantri (or the age of majority in your country). If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must create and manage the account.
Accurate Information
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and to keep it updated. Don't use fake names or misleading information.
Your Responsibilities
- Keep your password private and secure
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access
- You're liable for all activity on your account
Household Accounts
If you invite others to join your household in Pantri, you're responsible for managing that group. You can remove members at any time. Other members can see your pantry, meal plans, and shopping lists, so only invite people you trust.
4. What You Can and Can't Do
You Can
- Use Pantri to track your pantry, plan meals, and create shopping lists
- Share your household and collaborate with others
- Export or delete your data
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements
You Can't
- Abuse the system: Don't access, modify, or disrupt Pantri in ways we didn't intend
- Automate access: Don't use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access Pantri (except as explicitly authorized)
- Share credentials: Don't share your login details with others (use the household feature instead)
- Reverse engineer: Don't attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code
- Disable security: Don't try to bypass authentication, encryption, or other security measures
- Distribute malware: Don't use Pantri to distribute viruses, malware, or malicious code
- Harass others: Don't use Pantri to harass, threaten, or abuse household members or staff
- Illegal activity: Don't use Pantri for illegal purposes or in violation of any laws
- Mislead others: Don't impersonate someone else or misrepresent your identity
- Send spam: Don't use Pantri's household invitation system to spam people
If we catch you doing any of these things, we can suspend or terminate your account immediately, with or without notice.
5. Content and Intellectual Property
Your Content
Everything you add to Pantri — your pantry items, meal preferences, notes, household settings — is your content. You own it. We don't claim ownership over your data.
By using Pantri, you grant us the right to process, store, analyze, and display your content so the app can function. We use your data to improve AI recommendations, but never to train third-party models or sell to advertisers.
Pantri's Content
Pantri itself — including the app design, code, recipes, meal planning algorithms, and all other materials — is owned by Pantri and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You can use Pantri for personal household use. You can't:
- Republish or distribute Pantri's content without permission
- Use it for commercial purposes
- Remove or alter copyright notices
- License it to others
User-Generated Content
If you create recipes, meal plans, or other content and choose to share it within your household, other household members can use that content for their own household use. But they can't republish or distribute it further.
6. No Warranties
Pantri is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent allowed by Australian law, we make no warranties about:
- The app's accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose
- Uptime or uninterrupted access
- That Pantri is free from errors, viruses, or malware
- That the app will work with all devices or browsers
- That AI recommendations will be perfect (they're powered by AI, not humans)
You use Pantri at your own risk.
We don't guarantee the accuracy of nutritional information, expiry dates, or meal suggestions. Always verify information before making food safety decisions.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by Australian law, Pantri will not be liable to you for:
- Loss of data, income, or profits
- Food spoilage or food safety issues related to your use of Pantri
- Business interruption or economic loss
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Any damages beyond what you paid for Pantri (which is zero, since it's free)
Even if we've been told about the possibility of such damages, we're not liable.
This doesn't limit liability for fraud, gross negligence, or other things Australian law says we can't exclude.
8. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Pantri and its founder from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of Pantri
- Your violation of these terms
- Your violation of any laws or third-party rights
- Content you add to Pantri
- Your conduct within a household or with other users
9. Acceptable Use and Content Standards
You agree not to add content to Pantri that:
- Is illegal or promotes illegal activity
- Is hateful, abusive, or discriminatory
- Violates someone else's rights (privacy, intellectual property, etc.)
- Is sexually explicit or contains pornographic material
- Is violent or glorifies violence
- Contains malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Harasses or bullies other users
We can remove content that violates these standards without notice. Repeated violations will result in account termination.
10. Termination
You Can Terminate
You can delete your Pantri account at any time by going to Settings > Delete Account in the app. When you delete your account:
- Your pantry, meal plans, and shopping lists are permanently deleted
- Your email and account information are removed
- Household members will lose access to shared data
- You won't be able to recover deleted data
We Can Terminate
We can suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Violate our Privacy Policy
- Engage in abusive, illegal, or harmful behavior
- Attempt to break into or disrupt Pantri
- Haven't logged in for 2+ years (we'll try to notify you first)
We'll try to give you notice and an opportunity to fix the issue, but we can terminate immediately for serious violations.
After Termination
When your account is terminated, your data is permanently deleted. You lose access to Pantri and all your content.
11. Service Changes and Downtime
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue Pantri (or any feature) at any time. We'll try to give you notice, but we're not obligated to.
We're not liable if Pantri is unavailable due to:
- Planned maintenance
- Technical issues or bugs
- Server outages
- Internet connectivity problems
- Third-party service failures (Supabase, Vercel, Cloudflare)
- Force majeure events (natural disasters, wars, pandemics, etc.)
While we aim for 99% uptime, we can't guarantee 100% availability.
12. Third-Party Services
Pantri relies on third-party services including Supabase, Vercel, and Cloudflare. Your use of Pantri is also subject to their terms and privacy policies.
We're not responsible for:
- Third-party service interruptions or outages
- How third parties handle your data
- Changes to third-party terms or services
If a third-party service is discontinued or changes significantly, we may need to modify Pantri accordingly.
13. Feedback and Suggestions
We love hearing from you. If you send us feedback, ideas, or suggestions, you're giving us permission to use them however we want — without payment, attribution, or further notice.
This includes feature requests, bug reports, and general feedback about Pantri.
14. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to conflicts of law principles.
Jurisdiction
You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising from these terms will be brought exclusively in the courts of Australia. You consent to the jurisdiction and venue of Australian courts.
Informal Resolution
Before taking legal action, we encourage you to contact us at wes@pantri.app to try to resolve the dispute informally. Most issues can be resolved with a conversation.
Binding Arbitration
If informal resolution doesn't work, you agree to binding arbitration under the Australian Dispute Resolution procedures, rather than court proceedings. Arbitration is usually faster and less formal than court.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes by:
- Posting the updated terms on our website with a new "Last updated" date
- Sending an email if the changes significantly affect your rights or obligations
Your continued use of Pantri after changes means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree, you can delete your account.
16. Entire Agreement
These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and Pantri regarding your use of the app. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be invalid or unenforceable under Australian law, that provision will be removed or modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining terms will continue in full force.
