Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 11, 2026
At Pantri, your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. We're designed for Australian households and fully comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988.
We want to be clear and honest: we collect only what we need to make Pantri work, we don't sell your data, and we'll never share your information with advertisers. Your pantry is your business.
1. What Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign up for Pantri, we collect your email address and any profile information you choose to provide (like your name or household preferences). You don't need to give us your phone number or payment details — Pantri is completely free.
Pantry and Meal Data
The core of Pantri is your pantry — the foods, ingredients, and items you add to your kitchen inventory. This includes:
- Item names and descriptions
- Quantities and units of measurement
- Expiry dates and purchase dates
- Product categories and any custom notes you add
- Dietary preferences, allergies, and restrictions you set
- Meal preferences and cuisines you like
Household Information
If you create a household or invite others to join, we store:
- Your household name and settings
- The email addresses of household members you invite
- Each member's role and permissions
- Shared preferences like budget, dietary restrictions, and household size
Shopping and Meal Planning Data
We collect and store your meal plans, shopping lists, and any customizations you make. This helps our AI provide better recommendations over time.
Usage Information
We automatically collect information about how you use Pantri:
- Pages you visit and features you use
- Time spent on Pantri
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- IP address and approximate location (city-level, not precise)
- How you interact with AI recommendations (which meals you accept, modify, or skip)
Analytics Data (PostHog)
We use PostHog for analytics to understand how Pantri is used and to improve the app. PostHog collects:
- Event data (which buttons you click, which features you use)
- Session information (how long you're using the app, when you log in)
- Device and browser details
PostHog is GDPR and Privacy Act compliant. We don't use analytics data to track you across other websites.

All of these providers are GDPR-compliant and contractually obligated to protect your data. We only share data necessary for them to provide their services.

If required by Australian law or a valid court order, we may disclose your information. We'll notify you of such requests unless legally prohibited from doing so.
We Never Share With

4. Your Data and Artificial Intelligence
Pantri uses AI to generate meal plans and recommendations. Here's how your data is used:
Local and Private Processing
Your pantry data, preferences, and household information are processed to generate personalized meal plans. This happens on our secure servers and is not shared with third-party AI providers.
AI Training
We do not use your personal data to train Pantri's AI models or any third-party machine learning models. Your pantry is not part of our training data.
Future AI Features
If we add any new AI features in the future that would use your data differently, we'll update this policy and ask for your explicit consent before implementing such changes.

If a child under 13 creates an account or provides information, and you're their parent or guardian, please contact us at wes@pantri.app and we'll delete that account and information promptly.
Children 13 and over can use Pantri as part of a household, but parents should supervise and control access as appropriate.
